The Wilkinsburg Sanctuary Project is a faith-based, grassroots collaboration of churches, social service agencies along with the Mayor and Chief of Police to end youth violence. Our church hosts meetings and prayer vigils for the Project, while Pastor Janet serves as the President. The Project reaches out to youth in a variety of ways, including an annual Art and Talent Show for Peace in February, as well as a Block Party for Peace in May. This summer the Project is in partnership with the Wilkinsburg Youth Project to provide summer employment for over 50 youth. The Project also provides a Community Chaplain’s ministry which works with the community whenever incidents causing the loss of life happen. The Community Chaplains are ordained and licensed ministers in the community who are specially trained and certified through the Wilkinsburg Police Department. The Wilkinsburg Sanctuary Project welcomes all to come and work with us as we seek to end youth violence. For more information, please see the Wilkinsburg Sanctuary Project website.
